Sega has officially released its 'announce' trailer for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds - revealing all sorts of exciting details about the newest entry in the long-running Sonic Racing series.

This update has also confirmed CrossWorlds will include not only characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog series but also icons from other "SEGA Universes". Sega has also noted how this will be the "largest roster" of characters ever in the history of the Sonic Racing.

Here's the current list of Sonic characters featured as racers in the official 'announce' trailer and elsewhere, along with Zazz who has been confirmed as a playable character in the PS5 closed network test.

Unconfirmed Characters

These characters have been spotted on billboards and banners in the 'announce' trailer - suggesting they'll also appear as racers in this release. This adds up to a total of 23, with Sega's website once again confirming there will be "23 racers at launch" and a "ton more on the way".

A Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds character leak also popped up as a rumour in June, before the reveal of Minecraft characters and co.

When will Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launch?

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was originally revealed at The Game Awards in 2024. In an update in June 2025, Sega announced the game would launch for the Switch on 25th September 2025.

Will There Be A Switch 2 Version?

Sega officially confirmed in June 2025 a Switch 2 version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds would be "coming at a later date". Sega has also confirmed there will be a paid upgrade for existing Switch owners.

What Will Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds cost?

  • Nintendo Switch - $59.99 / £54.99
  • Nintendo Switch 2 (and other platforms) - $69.99 / £64.99

Sega will also offer a digital deluxe edition including a Season and more for $79.99 / £69.99 as well as a collector's edition (via Limited Run Games), priced at $249.99.

What other SEGA characters can we expect?

Sega has already given us a teaser of what's to come, but we'll update this guide when we hear more. Of course, there's really no limit to the kind of characters Sega could potentially bring to this new entry in Sonic Racing.

Some of the previous characters in Sonic racing games like All-Stars have added characters such as Beat from Banjo-Kazooie and Mii!

How many tracks, vehicles, and gadgets will there be?

According to Sega there will be "more tracks than ever before". Players can expect 24 "main tracks" and use Travel Rings to travel across 15 "CrossWorlds".

There will be 45 unique original vehicles (including Extreme Gear boards), and players will be able to "mix and match characters and vehicles". As for gadgets, there will be 23 different power-up items including new and returning favourites.
