Mario Kart World looks to be the most ambitious game in the series to date, with 24 racers per course, more game modes, open-world driving and a host of other fresh features.
But after a decade of Mario Kart 8, we're most excited for a fresh batch of courses. Nintendo is yet to lift the lid on every track at our disposal in the Switch 2 launch title, though we have combed through the trailers, screenshots, the Treehouse Live footage, and other gameplay footage to bring you the following list of every track confirmed so far.
On this page: Mario Kart World: Course List - Every Confirmed Track
Mario Kart World: Course List - Every Confirmed Track

Unlike previous Mario Kart games, World groups its circuits differently depending on which game mode you are playing. Grand Prix races will collect together four nearby tracks in a 'Cup', while Knockout Tour will take place across four further apart circuits in a 'Rally'.
We've listed together all of the tracks below, first in their Grand Prix format, and then in their Knockout Tour order. For returning courses, we've popped those in italics and specified which game they're from:

Mario Kart World - Track FAQs
Here are a handful of frequently asked question about Mario Kart World's circuits.
How many tracks are in Mario Kart World?

We don't know for sure yet, but we can make an educated guess. Each Cup consists of four races and there are seven cups that we know of, giving us an estimated total of 28 different tracks.
That said, a world map (above) published on the Nintendo website reveals 29 circuit icons. Might one Cup consist of five races? Is one circuit reserved only for Knockout Mode? We'll have to wait and see.
Are there any returning tracks in Mario Kart World?
There's plenty, and we're not surprised, given that the retro courses are basically a mainstay in Mario Kart nowadays.
We've highlighted the returning courses above in italics, but for ease,here's all the ones we know about so far:
- Airship Fortress
- Choco Mountain
- Desert Hills
- Dino Dino Jungle
- DK
- Koopa Troopa Beach
- Mario Circuit
- Moo Moo Meadows
- Peach Beach
- Shy Guy Bazaar
- Sky-High Sundae
- Toad's Factory
- Wario Shipyard (Wario's Galleon)
- Wario Stadium
How long is the Day and Night cycle?
24 minutes! So basically one minute equals one hour? That feels... weird in practice.
You can go through all of Mario Kart World's courses and, as you drive around, you'll notice the sky change throughout your playtime as the sun rises and sets. Beautiful sunset vistas, sparkling night skies, and beaming sunshine are present in every single course.
Is Rainbow Road in the game?
Of course it is — it wouldn't be a Mario Kart game without Rainbow Road now, would it?
Nintendo hasn't actually said outright that Rainbow Road is present, but it has teased it, saying that you'll unlock a "colourful course" if you beat all Grand Prix's.
What's the best Mario Kart World Track?
Well, it's too early to comment on that! Editor Gavin had great fun on one that he says was "a bit like Toad's Turnpike with loads of traffic on a bridge."
He also says he nearly won, though, so maybe check back later when we've had a chance to that this wasn't part of some Switch 2 fever dream brought on by excitement and dehydration.
We will be updating this guide as we see more from Mario Kart World. If you're after more Nintendo Switch 2 advice, check out our Switch 2 guides for more useful info.

I'm really looking forward to MKW
I've hardly touched MK8 Deluxe but I am going to be all over this.
Cow FTW. I'm going with the bundle. I'm eager to see how my Nintendo Store Golden Ticket delivers.
All I need is Ghost Valley 2 on the SNES
There’s gotta be at least one more because no way this game doesn’t have a rainbow road
@cra1g0s Would you settle for Mario Circuit 1, 2 & 3 because I've spotted them.
@Jintendo If we don't get GBA Rainbow Road I'm starting a riot!
I think it will be worth every penny, especially playing with mates via Game Chat.
Can't wait till 5th June ❤️
This is the Mario Kart game I always wanted. The amount of times I have been driving round the Mario Kart 8 deluxe tracke annd thought.... What is beyond the course. Just so excited to drive around and explore the Mario world. And even better I just got an invire from Nintendo to pre order a console next week... June the 5th is pretty close too.
Yes this looks awesome and for 50 bucks heck yes!!!
this game is oozing with personality and im all over it rn. im obsessed
I kind of assumed that DK Spaceport and a new Rainbow Road would be in the same cup, in a "going to space to reach the Rainbow Road" kind of vibe.
@johnvboy you got an invite? What country are you from? Not looking good here in the US… I had very high hopes of scoring a preorder April 9th, but with the recent news of the preorders getting delayed due to the tariffs I’m suddenly not so optimistic on getting that preorder, or even if I can justify it when we eventually get the new price…
I love how they chose quite a few of my requested returning tracks right out of the gate. Airship Fortress, Shy Guy Bazaar, Toad’s Factory, Sky-High Sundae and Wario Shipyard. I can hardly imagine what the new Bowser’s Castle and Rainbow Road will be like!
Guess now we know why Airship Fortress and Wario's Shipyard didn't make it into the booster course . Here's holding out for Toad's Factory!
On the map, you can see Toad’s Factory, and they played a remix of the music in the trailer.
Game's looking pretty jean shorts. I can't wait.
I love that Nintendo as a whole seems to be adopting a simple but colorful style. And it feels like the design philosophy is shared across games. Noted it the past few years but it is really showing in the new S2 games.
@Jintendo after you beat all the races, the ground opens up and you hear the announcement “welcome to the hellmout…I mean Rainbow Road.”
The household have played Mario Kart 8 DX extensively. You'd expect the majority of those tracks to feature again in MKW or at least many new ones appear? No?
Both look sweet. Especially MKW of course!
I am gonna miss the antigrav though. I know World has the rail grinding but the antigrav was so cool. Good thing you can play both on one system.
There's going to be so much more
Interesting that Crown City is in both the Mushroom Cup and Shell Cup. I’m guessing it’ll be different depending on which cup you’re racing.
Spotted a few frame rate drops on the new game. Hopefully that’s just the capture.
During the last Treehouse race today, I could really feel the fun. I love the cow, World will be awesome.
Can't wait to play this game, managed to pre-order the Switch 2 today.
couple of thoughts...
but looks fun
Peach Beach from Double Dash is also returning, but I'm not sure if it's missing from the article, or if it's been integrated into a new track. It has a castle theme now instead of looking like a tropical town
I really hope we’re getting a lot more tracks, especially when the game is as expensive as it is.
@X68000 I saw it in 8 as well, so it probably is.
@Darthmoogle.
U.K.... I was pretty surprised to be honest.
@Ryu_Niiyama I am so bummed that anti-gravity is not returning. The wall jumping mechanic looks cool, but the rail grinding honestly looks like it’ll only be useful for less skilled players. Idk, I just noticed that you seem to slow down when doing it.
Had me on Whistletop Summit
@RobTheIII Wait, are you serious? If so, hopefully they’ll group them into one track.
@Darthmoogle,
I think people are getting to worked up over this story in the U.S. We are still two months away from launch so who cares when the pre-orders go live as long as you get one. I very much doubt the price will increase. And you guys have been paying over the odds for regular things like groceries and gasoline for the last four years... Now a console might go up a little and some people are losing their minds all of a sudden.
@StewdaMegaManNerd Well in one of the checkpoint races (knockout I beleive it's called) you have your wish. here u can see them on the map: https://i.redd.it/r0dqbf582gse1.jpeg
Come on Wario Stadium finally! That was one of my favourite tracks in N64 back in the day. Hope it uses a bunch of tight interlocking routes to keep the same appeal as the original.
@johnvboy
Exactly right. I am not at all worried about this seeing how the last 4 years brought the worst inflation my household has seen in my lifetime... People need to chill. It will get released on time. Now as for Nintendos pricing of the system and games yikes...
@Gatorclops They then proceed to do the DS version again.
No Rainbow Roads?
I was a little worried after seeing the Mushroom Cup tracks on the Treehouse stream as they seemed hit and miss, but the Star Cup looked delightful. I especially love how menacing the ship now looks in Wario Shipyard. A true ghost ship!
I noticed there are seven cups mentioned, and no sign of the special cup, so I know that one will be the one likely unlocked once the others are toppled.
@Nate88,
Consoles are a luxury. But some are suggesting that they should be priced like everyday essential items. Sounds like pure entitlement to me. The Seitch 2 is a huge upgrade over the original. And the dock has to have a cooling fan... how people thought this was not going to push the cost up a little is beyond me.
Is there a battle mode? Didn't see any mention on it...
@johnvboy okay and now things like groceries might increase in price by up to 50% which is way worse than inflation ever was so i don't really see how this is an improvement in any way other than treating the leader as a god king
I hope there’s more than 28 courses given the price for this, even with them being interconnected
@spottedleaf,
I think the word "Might" has far more weight than your actual coment. I am not ing the guy. But to honestly suggest that they are not all corrupt is a trick by the media.
I doubt very much if the Switch hardware price will increase as it looks like the software is going to compensate. Also Nintendo have made a bold move to price digital versions of games less than physical. Now of course this should be the case as the production, logistical and cartridge/box costs are zero. Now if this model is to be the one adopted by Nintendo for all software then the protection retailers got from less competition from digital games will be gone. And this will also have the potential to push physical prices down as well.
But we are going to have to wait an see. Thus far all I can see is a knee jerk reaction to all this.
@Alpha008,
Pretty sure there will be. Plus some DLC...
Little bit surprised to see they've mixed old and new, when traditionally we get all new cups and then a bunch of retro cups too.
if you listen closely to the Treehouse Live segment, you hear a Toad Factory remix, Toad Factory confirmed?
yes, one of my favorite Mario Kart course is back(Airship Fortress).
@StewdaMegaManNerd Well I am sure the game will be fun no matter what. I am still more excited about the free roam than anything. Forza Horizon games ruined me a bit.
One of my Mario Kart issues has been addressed by having an overworld: its lack of a sense of space. The other issue, the ignoring of canon, is not. In what game does DK have a spaceport? Or Wario a shipyard? Why not instead make one based on a DKC2 haunted roller coaster? Or New Donk City?
@StewdaMegaManNerd Holy Cow, I was right!
@StewdaMegaManNerd Actually, it might be the N64 version. But it does look a lot like the DS track.
