Update []: Following some teaser posts on social media earlier this week, Sega has now officially unveiled its Sonic Racing Around the World brand campaign - an entire year dedicated to Sonic's trademark characteristics of "speed and attitude".
This campaign will the release Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and unite the "Sonic community" by encouraging their full potential to go above and beyond. It follows on from the previous year's campaign "Fearless: Year of Shadow".
To get this new campaign underway, Sega has teamed up with Red Bull as well as the rally and stunt driver Brandon Semenuk to create a new trailer. This same video apparently features Easter eggs from Sonic: CrossWorlds.
“The Racing Around the World fan celebration embodies everything fans love about Sonic from his superfast speed, bold attitude, and ability to inspire fans to push their limits. Our partnership with Red Bull delivers a thrilling stunt racing film that brings key elements from the Sonic universe to life for fans worldwide. We hope it brings fans together and allows them to experience the excitement of the Sonic Racing universe like never before.”
According to Sega, fans can also expect new racing-inspired brand partnerships, mobile game events, merchandise and "much more". There's also an official webpage you can take a look at to find out more.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Sega might be teasing some sort of collaboration with the energy drink company Red Bull.
Sonic's official social media posted a rally car featuring a Sonic the Hedgehog graphic and in a separate post there's a close-up of Red Bull's logo, with Red Bull Gaming even acknowledging it with the eye emoji:
Sonic fans (as well as racing and rally fans) have responded with all sorts of thoughts, theories and even some jokes about what announcement could be taking place next:
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was originally announced at The Game Awards last year, with Sega mentioning at the time how it was coming soon to multiple platforms including the Nintendo Switch. This latest collab would follow on from a team up with the DC Universe.
Since then, there have been closed network tests, but there's no word on when exactly this game will be released. It's certainly a busy year for racing fans with titles like Kirby Air Riders 2 all scheduled for 2025.

I think they meant digital only? Because only the eshop seems like too low of an audience for a racing game when the platform has one of the best racing games ever exclusive to it (Based on my opinions and total sales of MK8). And when you consider what happened with the Saturn, yeah that makes sense.

I ain’t much of a Red Bull drinker. I had two fellow employees who had to be rushed to the ER because they basically overdosed on that stuff. But that was pretty much on them. Still keeping an eye out for CrossWorlds though.
I guess sometimes the blue hedgehog that has to go fast, has to go even faster. That is what Red Bull is for.

"Gotta go faster" is actually one of the lyrics in the 4Kids banger of a theme song that is attributed to Sonic X and describes loosely what the show is about.
Good for both companies if that ends up being the case (even though I'm not interested in this collab at all personally) - regardless, looking forward to CrossWorlds whenever it comes out!

I’m not a fan of the drink, but Red Bull Racing was a perfect fit to promo a Sonic Racing game. And that video is what I’d like to see more of. A bit of fun to promote a game in a unique way.

@Zufolobelisk yeah you're right.. weird timing... all sonic racing games seems to come (for me at last) at inconvenient times.. I only started playing the WiiU game (the best in the series imo) in 2021, when i was done with mk8dx (pre booster) and was looking for some new racing inspiration

Mario Kart is a great game series and has always been more popular.
We can still appreciate Sonic though.
@Kienda Because it'll show which game is actually being noticed. Just look at how incredible Super Mario Bros. Wonder sold compared to Sonic Superstars. And that doesn't even get into the fact that people talk so much more about Mario Kart World than they do about Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. You'd be very surprised at how little Sonic the Hedgehog's got going for it nowadays. If it weren't for the movies--most of which are lackluster and are only noticed because Sonic characters are in them--the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise would be doing terribly right now.
@Zufolobelisk All these pointless moves Sega has made in the name of brand cohension just bled away fans.
They won't take StC or Archie fans' money, that is too "off-brand" to them but they're okay with appealing to the teeniest tiniest babies with cocomelon style shorts, and prime sonic who is a hyperactive uwu baby and movie sonic who acts like spiderman lite, totally out of character, as much or more than Archie Sonic
@Julie-Sued don't even get me started on IDW where the OCs are more like Sonic than Sonic
