Well, here's a weird listing – Monolith Soft's Wii U epic Xenoblade Chronicles X has popped up on a Microsoft PC webpage covering "enhanced games for Microsoft Edge Game Assist".
We've taken a look ourselves and can confirm it's featured. It's listed alongside PC releases like World of Warcraft and Half-Life 2. Here it is, along with the attached description:
"PC gamers frequently look up tips, guides, and other help while they play. For a selection of popular PC games, Microsoft Edge Game Assist makes this easier than ever by highlighting helpful resources whenever you open a new tab. Many popular PC games are already enhanced for Game Assist, with more on the way. Here are some of the games that are enhanced with tips and guides"
So, what exactly is going on here? Some Xenoblade fans have already shared their theories and are convinced it's an AI blunder, while others joked about it being an intern mistake (or possibly a combination of the two).
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on the Switch. Nintendo is also on the cusp of a new hardware generation, so there's plenty more to come from Monolith Soft in the future.
It's not the first time we've seen something like this on the Microsoft or Xbox storefront, with a few other odd listings and images appearing from time to time over the years.
Although it does seem unlikely Xbox will be getting any major Nintendo IP, Microsoft has committed to bringing some of its first-party titles to Nintendo's platforms and says it's looking forward to the Switch 2.
This week a report also popped up about the tech giant apparently sidelining its plans for a first-party handheld device.
If we hear significant updates or developments, we'll let you know. What do you make of this? Let us know in the comments.

Nintendo marketing their "gamer games" for the PC?
It was probably just Microsoft's Ai mes. Nintendo wouldn't put their games on PC, since it would be shooting themselves in the foot.
Mistake for sure. I don’t pay much attention to MS and Sony, but from what I’ve heard they’ve been abandoning exclusivity. Nintendo would be unwise to follow them with demand for their brand new console super high precisely because of their exclusive games. Selling another million copies of a Xenoblade game won’t make or break anything for them.
Probably an AI-written web page with the expected AI mistake.
Microsoft is putting their games on Nintendo and Sony consoles because they have to as the Xbox console brand is tanking.
Nintendo has no need to put their games on other platforms right now.
So I'm calling it as an error.
Could Nintendo put a few switch 1 games on PC Maybe next year, no one is going to be buying a switch 2 for Xenoblade x. Fire emblem and xenoblade would be good candidates.
Some MS employee is currently in a copy-paste spree. Must've been their backlog 😆🤣
Not the first time MS made a blunder like this. Intern or maybe AI. I a couple years back they did a random 2D Zelda game before it got removed pretty quickly.
Cue the people gonna take any opportunity (no matter how unlikely) to port beg for PC though.
Gonna be like what happened with Wonderful 101 (with people willfully ignoring the very important context for why that was the exception and not the rule.) Remastered where we had that brief period where people assumed the floodgates are opened and Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Metroid, etc was gonna be sold on the Steam store too.
You know give inch take mile and all that.
Just to give you all some perspective on how Nintendo sees the PC market…Nintendo actually gives some levels of attention to the mobile market unlike PC (Nintendo has several apps at this point) and the mobile market doesn’t even get old game console ports off Nintendo. You’re getting Mario Jump not Mario Odyssey. You’re getting Mario Kart Tour not Mario Kart World. You’re getting Fire Emblem Heros not Fire Emblem three houses.
Did the AI they use assume it was an Xbox title because the game had a big X on the logo?
@Woodyshoe Doubt it for multiple reasons:
1. I just cant imagine Nintendo putting any of their games onto PC, even if it's one of the lesser popular franchises
2. If they start putting XC or FE onto PC they'd open the floodgate to questions like "Where's Mario/Zelda/Pokemon on PC?"
3. Nintendo already has a big problem with piracy and putting their games onto PC wouldn't help with that, even if they come with something like Denuvo
Certainly an error ! Don't make sense nintendo releases their games on PC !
And this is why stuff like this shouldn't be trusted to AI.
if what AI states is not 100% reliable information, then it is completely useless as it is untrustworthy 🤷
The idea of Nintendo going third party is suddenly weirdly appealing after the Switch 2 reveal 🤔
Lots of FUD lately, reminds me of in 2020 when almost every week there was a new piece of FUD about the PS5 ramping up to its launch, none of it was true but there did appear to be coordinated efforts to spread it.
Nintendo’s biggest selling point is you can only play their games on their hardware (save for mobile games of course but they aren’t the “real deal”). Wouldn’t make any sense at all to start putting them elsewhere, especially when they’ve been so successful as of late.
Yeah, most certainly it's just a mistake considering the aspects already mentioned in the article and that there's no way that Nintendo would release their games elsewhere anytime soon and even less so with Switch 2 launching so soon as others here in the comments have already mentioned - exclusivity is one of the biggest aspects that makes people buy their systems (and yep, at most they've been interested in releasing mobile apps/games to make even more people know their IPs and so potentially get their dedicated videogame systems, games etc.)!
@SalvorHardin There is no such thing as FUD, it's nonsense faux-economic woo.
It's their AI feature on their horrible Edge browser. This is clearly an AI mistake. Should tell you everything about their quality.
It wouldn't be the first Nintendo port to PC.
Nintendo ported Mario Bros and Donkey Kong among others to PC in the past.
Microsoft should protect PC gamer from such bad game
@Lizuka
It’s a strategy Microsoft has employed since the days of DOS and confirmed in numerous memos and court cases, its an effective and simple to implement tactic especially in the age of things going viral on social media.
Don't do it Nintendo!
Unless they really do want to be "Nintendoomed".
I think if any Nintendo game would appear there, Xenoblade Chronicles X would be a decent fit.
Though I doubt it's actually happening. Maybe AI put it there because of the X. You know, Xbox being a thing and all.
@HingryHuppo These are different situations. Nintendo wouldn't team up with Microsoft to list one of their first party games on a list for PC games. This is legit just an AI making an error.
Nintendo losing exclusivity for their franchises and putting them on other platforms like PC will spell doom for the company, given they rely on exclusives to sell consoles. Nintendo is primarily a gaming company, while Sony and Microsoft aren't. Nintendo has more to lose than they have to gain with selling their games on platforms like Steam.
@mariomaster96 we said this about Nintendo doing mobile games. If Switch 2 sales dip after the first year, then shareholder pressure will be on as Sony are doing it.
@Woodyshoe Yeah but the games on mobile are spin-offs specifially created for mobile and not the actual console games
My immediate thought as I saw this was "AI blunder". AI does this crap all the time, it's actually shocking that people are using it to generate content unchecked.
I'll not even believe it when I see it xD
Highly doubtful just because it's XCX. The only reason Nintendo would choose that as their maiden PC port would be to intentionally tank sales so investors would stop bothering them about PC ports.
(To be clear I love XCX, but it is not a mainstream title by any stretch. On a list of games Nintendo should port to PC for easy cash it would right near the bottom)
Sounds like either an AI error or something connected to how Xbox socials got hacked with Crypto scams.
While Nintendo may go down the PC route if Switch 2 does badly like the mobile strategy caused by the Wii U’s commercial failure, I don’t see Nintendo sabotaging Switch 2’s launch by announcing PC ports.
@Woodyshoe Also Bayonetta, Astral Chain, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Don't think we will see any of their big IPs on other platforms, but it could be smart to release some of their more niche single player games that have been out for a while to try to reach a larger audience.
They could even add cross platform saves in case they ever want to get the Switch and play the game there.
I think it would be really awesome to see certain Nintendo titles make the jump to PC so more people can have access to games. XCX is an excellent candidate for this and it would elevate exposure to the series. But knowing Nintendo, it's a move that won't happen unless they experience a flop in their businesses.
Definitely a huge blunder. Probably a human mistake or AI being AI, but...there are some folks like me who would do something like this as a harmless practical joke lol. Then remove it.
Maybe I’m missing something, but if they were to port it, wouldn’t it be DE?
Mistake or not, all these comments like "NEVER!", "SUICIDE!", "IMPOSSIBLE!" remind me of how people used to freak out over rumors about Sega games coming to PS2, Xbox games launching on Steam or PS5 "exclusives" releasing on PC… In the end, they all just got even richer.
😏 sip
Hmm, XBX running at 120 FPS 1440p, that'd be a shame lol
@SalvorHardin PSA: You’re really telling on yourself as a crypto bro when you reference “FUD”.
I don't think this would happen, but you never know. I really hope not. Xenoblade of all series needs to stay Nintendo-only.
Nintendo owns the xenoblade chronicles franchise ip along with monolith soft so its definitely an error.
Maybe we're reading into this backwards. What if it's a sign that the Microsoft Edge Browser is coming to Switch 2? Gee, that would be so exciting...
I hope this is true. Letting some of their more niche franchises over to other platforms shows goodwill and may net the Switch 2 more Microsoft titles.
As much as I’d love to see this on pc and xbox, isn’t this just referring to the game assist ai? It can probably assist with games that aren’t on Xbox and pc too.
maybe xbox knows something us fans do not i mean xbox is porting games to the witch maybe this is nintendo way of returning the favor...i find it hard to imagine that all of a sudden xenoblades appears on a xbox listing... because it is a error..
@Sindayl what?? You mean a sonic game is gonna be on a Nintendo platform?? Never!!!!
People get so weird about this stuff, don’t they?
Would be pretty funny if it referred to emulated versions of the game.
It sounds like Microsoft Game Assist is a technology that is used as a guide to help you through a game like a walkthrough. My guess is that it runs in the background or beside the game you’re playing. Maybe this is a feature Microsoft and Nintendo are bringing to Switch 2. And I can see the other games on this list coming to Switch 2. I myself did use Microsoft Copilot on my iPhone for help XB: Chronicles X DE when I began playing since I didn’t understand certain things about the game at first. The answers were actually really good.
@jesse_dylan I believe so as well. I think the editors of this website can’t put two and two together or purposefully refuse to do so as a means of spreading hysteria, thus driving more engagement, aka comments, than a truthful article would produce.
That’s what happens when you layoff 3500 people and tell your remaining employees to use AI to save time.
@Koda1000 Gotta get those clicks I guess! Or maybe they don't read their sibling Xbox website, which did report on the Assist thing at some point.
Obvious error is obvious, so why bother report it?
@Koda1000 you know there is a very extensive built in “Game Tips” menu for Xenoblade X DE?
It's only in English. For example, in French and Italian, Xenoblade isn't on the list

@WhiteTrashGuy The thing is Xenoblade Chronicles X isn't a niche title, it's a major title for the Wii U and Switch 1.
@HingryHuppo Sega doesn't make consoles anymore, or make most of their sales from consoles. Nintendo makes most of their sales from hardware- and thus they need software to push said hardware.
@Serpenterror
What I meant was it's not one of their premier IPs; Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Animal Crossing, Star Fox, Kirby, etc. Those should stay on Nintendo platforms only. They could afford letting something like XENOBLADE be on Game so that we can get HALO and some Rare goodies.
@HingryHuppo You went on to use Sega as an example, which I brought up that Sega isn't an apt example as Nintendo and Sega are two entirely different companies with entirely different goals. I'm not being argumentative. I'm saying why the comparison you brought up in the first place isn't accurate.
Nintendo is again, a company that produces video game consoles. They make their money off of selling hardware. They sell said hardware at a loss however, and utilize software within that hardware to make that money back. Sega failed immensely in the console space, so they backed out and became a third party developer. Meanwhile Nintendo has been going strong solely based off of exclusive software on their hardware.
Also, you're forgetting that you're the one who responded to my comment in the first place. You came across as argumentative within the first comment, so I don't get why you're pinning the blame of this being an argument onto me.
@VoidofLight
“ They make their money off of selling hardware. They sell said hardware at a loss however”
I think your only goal is to win an argument that we’re not actually having. Let’s just agree that Nintendo make all their money by making a loss.
@HingryHuppo They make their money off of hardware that's supplemented by Software. That's why they need exclusivity in the first place, because without said software being exclusive to their console- no one would buy their console. If you're a sega fan, you should know a bit about this, no?
More concerned about a Xenoblade Chronicles X patch (I’ve been holding off on the game until Switch 2) and while we’re at it what about XC 1-3. I’d pay a reasonable upgrade fee.
@Woodyshoe it is possible they are doing what Sony does and releasing a few "last gen" games on PC. Probably a few outlier franchises like Xenoblade or Fire Emblem. I mean they have allowed Nintendo owned franchises like Wonderful 101 on PC and other consoles before.
However... It was probably an AI mistake as I doubt Nintendo is doing this as Xenoblade X is still fresh in gamers minds.
@Sindayl platform exclusives are dying a slow painful death. In this market where games are so expensive to make it makes almost no sense for these games to not be on PS5, Switch/Switch 2 and PC. Xbox as a brand is dying as ever since the 360 Microsoft has been struggling to remain relevant; outside of buying large publishes like Bethesda, Activision-Blizzard. It makes sense that after the struggle to sell people on the Xbox One and now the Xbox Series S/X they'd start publishing on Sony and Nintendo systems. Even Sony is dipping their toes in on this idea as even PlayStation games are now on PC (development costs are just so damn high).
I mean there is a reason Final Fantasy VII-Re trilogy is coming to Switch 2. I think Nintendo still has some runway to keep their games exclusive this gen just do to their ability to keep budgets lower, but at some point it is likely even the Big-N will publish at least on PC.
@Wexter yes… Even if they already owned some prior to the first Xbox release, Microsoft should have bought tons of studios from the start just like Sony did.
Sony barely had any first party studios in the beginning and built their popularity through third-party deals and lots of strategic studio acquisitions.
Now Microsoft is trying to catch up but with PlayStation’s aggressive third party exclusivity tactics and exaggerated online narratives like « PlayStation = cool » vs « Xbox = evil » (seriously, wtf?), it feels like no matter what Microsoft does, it will always be too late.
In the end, Nintendo and SEGA are/were the only true big video game companies. They built their studios from the ground up with internal creative visions. They created entire worlds and unique identities. Rest in peace, SEGA…
Eww...One of the many things I love about Nintendo is that their games aren't on PC (not talking emulators, etc..). You know the one place to play Nintendo games is going to be on a Nintendo console, which really enhances the brand loyalty imo.
Well that didn’t take long. As someone else mentioned this error isn’t even present in the other languages. Won’t stop certain people to milk what they can get I guess.
@Wexter Do you even know the context of WHY W101 Remastered got ported in the first place?
It took many moving parts for it to make it work out: Platinum doing a crowdfunding to not just port, but add some stuff, Nintendo giving permission (the big one. Nintendo wasn’t the one that initiated on W101 to be remaster/ported that I feel lot of the port people here are forgetting/ignorant about) , and obviously said game having little value that it actually makes sense to multi platform port to begin with. W101 was a flop even by Platinum standards. It worked because a third party was willing to do the legwork for them (multi platform porting + more content) and Nintendo wasn’t getting any real value off the IP. The vast majority of other Nintendo IP is not in this situation at all. For example do you see Atlus going out of their way to do this for Tokyo Mirage Sessions? lol.
W101 hardly set a precedence. It was painfully obvious of it being a unique outlier that if other Nintendo games are NOT like in a situation exactly like W101 then a port isn’t happening.
Nintendo isn’t Sony and certainly not MS. Nintendo has way more first parties being made and more importantly way more first parties that sell very well even on one platform compared to Sony/MS.
Nintendo is not in a Sony situation given how well their first parties sell. Porting Mario or Pokemon right now would just shoot themselves on the foot because we both know that would result in less hardware sales + Nintendo games in other selling markets means Nintendo gets less cut of software sales compared to Eshop. Steam store alone takes 30% when they could have got the whole pie if they just bought off Eshop. Considering the amount of PC gamers that own a Nintendo device anyway to play Nintendo first parties there isn’t any real need to port.
Switch 2 would have to be a massive flop to even have this discussion even entertained in the future. Like I said earlier: Nintendo gives more attention to mobile market then PC market and mobile market doesn’t even get ports from them despite most modern smartphones very capable of running a lot of their games since a modern IPhone is stronger then a Switch 1. People here jumping up and down begging for PC ports are just setting themselves up for disappointment.
