At last, Front Mission 3: Remake has a release date on Nintendo Switch. Forever Entertainment is bringing the beloved tactical RPG to the console on 26th June 2025.
Front Mission 3: Remake was originally announced way back in 2022 during a Nintendo Direct, and we haven't seen much of it over the years. It did, however, make an appearance at the 2024 Tokyo Game Show, so we suspected we'd be seeing it fairly soon.
In Front Mission 3, you'll follow the stories of Kazuki Takemura and Ryogo Kusama, two Japanese wanzer test pilots who are best friends. The duo are thrown into a military conflict after making a delivery to a military base, which forces Kazuki to make a choice that will change the trajectory of the story.

Will you follow the United States of the New Continent (USN) scenario and find out more about scientist Emir "Emma" Klamsky, or will Kazuki team up with his sister Aliciana "Alisa" Takemura and follow the People's Republic of Da Han Zhong (DHZ) plot?
Here's what to expect from the remake when it lands next month:
Game Features
• Two different engaging storylines - Dive into two immersive storylines defined by your choices in the game, each offering unique perspectives and challenges.
• Improved graphics and animations - enjoy remade visuals and smoother animations suited to modern needs.
• Reorchestrated music - Immerse yourself in a new approach to a classic soundtrack.
• Wanzers’ camo customization - Personalize your Wanzers with new customizable camouflage options for a unique battlefield look.
• New Quick Combat mode - Jump straight into the action with the fast-paced battle mode.
Front Mission 3 originally released on the PlayStation in 1999 — 2000 in the West — and this remake concludes the MegaPixel Studio-developed trilogy in what many consider the best game in the mech series.
In fairness, we didn't love either updates over the years, thankfully, but we hope that the extra development time given to Front Mission 3: Remake means we have a winner on-hand out of the gate.

Looks alright 👍 not too sure on the name 'Wanzer' though?? But apart from that yeh, colour me interested with a camo pattern wanzer. Ps 8 days to go folks 😉
Glad to hear it for those interested in it - potentially me included, although I should play the previous ones first and foremost (especially the first game which I already have as I managed to get it physically back then)!
The 1st Remake was very disappointing, I want to the serie but please make better games. I loved the 3rd one, I hope that you don't mess up this one.
Yer a wanzer, Harry. A fuggin’ wanzer
It's alive, huh. They announced Panzer Dragoon II Zwei Remake back in 2018, and there's still no release date...
@Vyacheslav333 Yeah, Zwei is vaporware unfortunately. The first game didn't sell and they just never formally announced the cancellation. I hate that too, it was one of my most anticipated games. They really should have skipped the original since it was so light on content and started at Zwei.
Front Mission 3 is real though. It's been playable since TGS last year.
Speaking about classic remakes: I wonder what happened to the Fear Effect Remake? That looked quite interesting. 🤔
@Michael0916 I believe it was officially cancelled. The latest footage of it looked horrendous so I guess they pulled the plug after the negative
@LiquidNinja
I see, thanks. 👍
Loved this game back on the PS1, looking forward to revisting it
Nice to see that it has a release date now.
Does anyone know what happened to the physical version of Front Mission 2 remake? I held off buying the digital version because the physical version was announced but there hasn’t been a general retail release yet (they did one for Front Mission 1st remake).
@Grumblevolcano preorders went up back in January for a physical release through Limited Run Games. I think it's supposed to be shipping sometime soon.
FM3 is still one of my all-time favorite srpgs.
Do it right!
@Michael0916 Fear Effect Reinvented was officially cancelled years ago
@amongtheworms In the USA, we (urbanist-types) know of giant Ford F150's (or similar oversized trucks) that have had their suspension lifted absurdly high as W*nk Panzers, so Wanzer makes me think of those two combined. Then I start thinking about the context of the game, but everyone's driving big Chevy's, Fords, and RAM trucks that usually won't see action other than get groceries..!
It's surprising that they keep releasing these games considering the bad reception of the first 2 remakes. I guess the money that Nintendo paid for the temporal exclusivity is keeping the project afloat.
The only thing I’m bothered about is if they’ve kept the in game internet!
@fenlix Oh that’s why we’ve not had a mobile port!
@karatekid1612 it all about them walking panzers! wanzers indeed! now bring on 4, 5 and alternative please!
So how about a Front Mission 2089 remake?
The first remake was pretty solid, I thought, minor performance issues aside. It was FM2 where they really dropped the ball — including on the English localization, which was all-but incomprehensible (like the result of MTL). And since they've never bothered to really fox that, despite it being a relatively easy and cheap thing to do, I can't say I have any hope in the FM3 remake being able.
@fpcreator2000 👍
@nuff64 👍
Fair. Got 1, it's ok. 2 is infinite discounted so sure 3 happening is fine.
To me 1 needed a better AI, better choice of attacks on pieces not randomised. In SNES era sure, but nowadays it needs a new combat mode not randomised and annoying to work with.
Otherwise story was ok, visuals were fine. Controls ok.
I tried 1 for a bit and 2 is probably more the same, 3 more the same.
It was better then Tactics Ogre Reborn that's for sure but that's not saying a lot I think both a good old games revived for access but their lack of elements to them is also an issue they are too much weird tweaks like TOR's level limiting and otherwise.
Both are SNES games with graphics overhauls and minor changes but still feel lacking to me.
GameFaqs forum had a poll of the Top 100 PS1 Games of All-Time. There were a few hundred respondents.
Front Mission 3 ended up the #41 best PS1 game.
